VicRoads and CityLink are carrying out essential asphalt works on the M1 corridor over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. The works include resurfacing the Burnley and Domain tunnels, and resurfacing four of the ten lanes on the West Gate Bridge. Long delays are expected and VicRoads asks drivers to plan their journeys and avoid the area.

Families can now register for sessional kindergarten and long day care services at the new integrated centre Bubup Womindjeka Family and Children’s Centre in Port Melbourne
Bubup Womindjeka Family and Children’s Centre is opening soon at 85 Liardet Street, Port Melbourne.
The new community run integrated centre will provide a range of early childhood and family services such as long day care, sessional kindergarten, maternal and child health, as well as a consulting space for allied health professionals, space for new parent groups, playgroups and other community groups.
The City of Port Phillip has chosen a locally significant indigenous name for the facility, Bubup Womindjeka Family and Children’s Centre, to celebrate indigenous history and culture.
Bubup Womindjeka means ‘Welcome Children’, and identifies the new integrated centre as a place for children and families while honouring the history of its location, our nation’s first people and their connection to the significant site of the lagoon in Port Melbourne.

Nominations for the Community Grants Assessment Panel 2014-2016 Closing Soon!!
The City of Port Phillip is seeking residents interested in a two year voluntary appointment role as an Assessment Panel Member for the annual Community Grants Program. Applications made to the Community Grants Program are assessed by two assessment panels, each consisting of a councillor, council officer and two community representatives.
Criteria for selection:
• Resident of Port Phillip.
• Commitment to supporting and strengthening a diverse community that encourages the participation & inclusion of all residents.
• Knowledge of and commitment to social justice and human rights principles and practice.
• Knowledge of issues affecting the health and wellbeing of the Port Phillip community.
• Knowledge of the local community sector and an understanding of local networks.
• Involvement in local community including but not limited to: clubs, organisations, committees and groups.
• Understanding of Local Governments role in the community.
• Experience in the administration of community funded projects is desirable.
• Available for three evening meetings between mid April and mid May annually.
• Internet access.
